Background: Antiretroviral therapy client satisfaction is the extent to which the client
feels that their needs are being met by service provided. Satisfied anti-retro viral therapy
clients are more likely to comply with their treatment, which is in turn associated with
better outcomes. Thus, ensuring antiretroviral therapy client‘s satisfaction is a very
significant tool that enables us to strengthen the quality of life of the clients.
Methods: An institution-based cross-sectional study was undertaken from August 28 to
October 27, on 363 Anti-Retro Viral therapy adult clients. A systematic random sampling
technique was used to select the study respondents. Data was collected by exit
interviewer administered structured questionnaires and reviewed client medical
documents. The collected data was entered into EPI-INFO version 7.2.2.6 and exported
to SPSS version 20 for analysis. Bi-variable logistic regression variables with p-value ≤
0.25 were considered for multivariable logistic regression analysis and adjusted odds
ratio with its 95% confidence intervals. Finally, variables with p-values ≤0.05 were
declared as statistically significant associations.
Result: - The overall client satisfaction with antiretro-viral therapy services was 54.6%
[(95% CI: 49.6, 59.6)]. Clients who did not attend formal education [(AOR=0.138, 95%
CI: 0.062, 0.310] clients who attended health education information [(AOR=3.291, 95%
CI: 1.912, 5.663)] ,<30min waiting time before service [(AOR=2.692, 95% CI: 1.421,
5.102], and clients on the appointment spacing model [(AOR=4,327,95% CI:
2.210,8.475)],were significantly associated with service satisfaction on antiretroviral
therapy services.
Conclusion: -The overall client‘s satisfaction with antiretroviral therapy services was
relatively low. Factors such as not attending formal education, attending health education
information, waiting time before services, and clients on appointment-spacing model
were significantly associated. Therefore, due attention should be given to health
education information in the context of their educational level and improving waiting
times. |
