Due to the challenges and problems increasing in today’s labor force participation, many
countries are required to build long-term sustainable advantages for societies and to achieve
the balance of demographic, economic and social factors aspects and to assured improvements
of female labor force participation. Thus, the main objective of the study was to investigate
the determinants of female labor force participation: the case of west shoa zone, Ambo town,
Oromia regional state, Ethiopia. Taking the research objectives and questions into
considerations, as the research approach quantitative research method as well as explanatory
research design used for in this study. The study was used the combination of stratified
random sampling technique, judgmental and convenience non-probabilistic sampling
technique. The target population for this research was the total female aged as of labor force
of west shoa zone ambo town, Oromia regional state, Ethiopia from Ambo town six kebeles.
By using structured questionnaire, the data were collected from 396 Women’s of the Ambo
town six kebeles with the response rate of 91.1%. Data collected through self-administered
questionnaire and analyzed using SPSS version 26. Descriptive statistics was used to detail
the profiles of the respondents and the factors that influence the female labor force
participation elements. The descriptive statistics frequency result was show that the majorities
of women, which accounted for 57.7% were participated in the formal sector while, the rest
33.9% and 8.4% were participated in informal sector and non-participated respectively. The
inferential statistics was used to highlight the most important economic factors and social
factors dimensions and to ascertain the correlations between them. The results indicated that
the majorities of independent variables: categorized under demographic factors, Economic
factors and Social factors had significant positive effect on female labor force participation.
The result of Multinomial Logistic regression analysis also shows that the demographic,
economic and social factors dimensions together explain 68% the variance in Female labor
force participation. Finally, based on the finds of the study, conclude that Demographic
factors, Economic factors and Social factors have a significant effect on Female Labor Force
Participation; The Case of West Shoa Zone Ambo Town, Oromia Regional State, Ethiopia
and recommendations were made to The Administration bodies of West Shoa zon |
