This research is intended to assess the procurement practice and problems of Oromia public
procurement and property disposal Agency. It visualized having significance for both realistic
improvement of the public procurement practices and intangible contribution to fill literature gab
in addition to its academic purpose. Mixed research approach employed since primary and
secondary data sources have been used intensively. To conduct this study, the researcher
gathered data from primary sources by using semi-structured questionnaire, interview has been
held with purposively selected respondents, and in addition, secondary data sources including
procurement manuals, procurement requisition formats and other various documents related to
procurement practices have been used. As to the sample size, census or complete enumeration
have been used for the target study population due to small and manageable population. The data
is analyzed using by descriptive statistical results are presented by figures, tables, frequency
distributions and percentages to give a condensed picture of the data. The Statistical Package for
Social Science (SPSS 16.0) software has been employed to analyze and present the data through
the statistical tools used for this study. The major findings of this study were; the agency was
poor in procured of items in provisions of the 5Rs procurement principles, long procurement
process and items procured do not much with items requested are the core findings shown as the
main problems related with the procurement activities of Oromia public procurement and
property disposal Agency |
