Abstract:
ustainable land management practice (SLMP) has emerged as an issue of major international
concern; The Government of Ethiopia (GoE) recognizes that land degradation is a major economic
growth constraining factor not only as a disorder to accelerate and as sustainable socioeconomic
development. The primary aim of this study was to assess on An Assessment of Good Governance
Practices Towards Sustainable Land Management Program; The study further focused on to
investigate sustainable land management practices by rural farming households in the study area;
To analyze governance of sustainable land management practices; To examine the challenges and
explore the existing opportunities of sustainable land management practices. In order to carry out
this study, both quantitative and qualitative methods employed. Instruments like semi-structured
questionnaire, FGD, Key informant interview and observation employed. To this end, 156 urban
households selected through simple random sampling technique. Thus, the data obtained from the
respondents analyzed through SPSS version 21th and descriptive statistics (mean standard deviation,
frequencies, and percentage). In addition, qualitative data collected and analyzed None-parametric
tests of significance (chi-square test of independence) used depending of variables. Towards good
governance of sustainable land management was not wall confirmed. A grand mean of 2.48
indicates the overall poor level of performance of the current good governance of sustainable land
use management practice in Ambo district; According to this analysis, awareness creation activities
were been effectively were committed to support the program implementation processes. From
good governance principles more proportional or moderately performance on Education,
Participation and Accountability should been current governance to achieve sustainable land
management practices should give attention raising effective technology usage system of humanity
on role of good government in sustainable land management practices. On women participation
involvements in the project processes was moderately active in Ambo district. Oromia, regional
state having a water shade management plan in all over rural area this may a chance to change for
our farmer of rural area to make a total land management plan. To promote successful effective
community participation, wisdom of ownership over advantage created, and well-organized
application technologies in a water shad , effective integration of stack holder on monitoring and
evaluation should applied to overcome the challenge of sustainable land use management practice
