Abstract:
This study aimed to investigate the effect of managerial efficiency on employees’ job
satisfaction in West Shoa Zone, Ambo town public sectors. To achieve the objective of
this study, explanatory mixed research approach and correlation research design were
used. The sample size of the study was 126 from the total 554 employees of Ambo town
public sectors. The study used primary data that was collected from permanent
employees through simple random sampling techniques. A questionnaire and interview
were the data collection tools used for the study. Data were analyzed using descriptive
and inferential statistics with Statistical Packages for Social Science (SPSS) version 23.0.
To check the reliability, Cronbach alpha was employed and the reliability coefficient of
0.86 was computed & to check the validity of the instruments pilot test was carried out.
Multiple linear regression analysis techniques were used to explain the relationship
between managerial efficiency and employees’ job satisfaction. The study found that
there is a significant relationship between managerial efficiency and employee job
satisfaction. A unit increase in management skills leads to an increase in employees
satisfaction by 78.4%, a unit increase in teaming skills leads to an increase in employee’s
satisfaction by 66.9% and a unit increase in leadership skill leads to an increase in
employees satisfaction by more than 100%. The degree of association between
managerial efficiency and job satisfaction is 0.749 and the degree of influence that
managerial efficiency has on employees’ job satisfaction, shown by R square, is 0.56.
This means that among many factors affecting job satisfaction, managerial efficiency has
56% influences on job satisfaction. In comparison, 44% of the deviation resulted from
other variables, which are not included in this study. Recommendation: Majority of the
study participants in our study were dissatisfied with their job. Therefore managers and
policymakers should give due consideration to employees' job satisfaction if they really
want to achieve the goals and objectives of their organization. In addition to this,
managers of public sectors should effectively consider the effect of managerial efficiency
on employee job satisfaction such as management skills, team skills and leadership skills
to increase employee job satisfaction
