dc.description.abstract Background: Hypertension is the leading cause of morbidity and mortality. Bank workers are at higher risk of getting hypertension because of sedentary nature of their job. Majority of studies that have been done were health facility and population based, and haven’t studied determinants of hypertension in detail. Thus, conducting this study is essential for proposing further interventions. Objective: The aim of this study was to assess the magnitude of Hypertension and associated factors among bank workers in Burayu town, Ethiopia. Methods and materials: Institution-based cross-sectional study was conducted among bank workers in Burayu town from April 1-20, 2022. The sample size was 277. Stratified simple random sampling method was used to select study participants. The data were collected by self-administered questionnaires and standard physical measurements using digital blood pressure apparatus, portable weighting scale with stadiometer and measuring tape. Then, the data were entered into Epidata and exported to statistical packages for social science version 25. Bivariable logistic regression analysis was used to identify the association between dependent and each independent variable considering 95% CI using crude odds ratio. Variables with p-value of 0.25 and less in bivariable logistic regression were taken to multivariable Logistic regression. In multivariable logistic regression analysis, variables with p-value less than 0.05 were declared as statistically significant. Result: The overall magnitude of Hypertension in this study was 25.3% (95% CI: 19.8-30.8). Multivariable logistic regression analysis depicted that year of service (AOR=3.2; 95% CI: 1.17-8.88), not doing regular physical exercise (AOR=6.5; 95% CI: 1.16-36.9), family history of Hypertension (AOR=3.95, 95% CI: 1.68-9.4), being obese (AOR=6.7; 95% CI: 1.1-40.7) and being overweight (AOR=6.9; 95% CI: 1.21-40.2) were found being predictors of Hypertension. Conclusion and recommendation: The magnitude of hypertension is high in study area and majority of the cases were newly identified needing immediate reactions. Therefore, regular blood monitoring, doing regular physical exercise and controlling body mass index to normal range is essential among bank employees en_US
