dc.description.abstract The main purpose of this study was to examine the major factors that affect provision of quality education government Secondary Schools of Dendi Woreda. To describes the nature of the data and to identifying and organizing a set of data in meaningful way the researcher used descriptive research design.To conduct this study, a mixed research method (quantitative and qualitative research approach) were employed. The study was carried out on 5 government secondary schools which were selected through comprehensive sampling techniques and also school principals, vice principals and PTA were selected through comprehensive sampling technique. In this study stratified sampling and simple random sampling techniques were used for the teachers and the students to be select respondents. Accordingly,57 teachers,241 students,5 school principals,4 vice principals,2 supervisiors and 25 parents teachers association were selected as samples. The necessary data from both primary and secondary sources were collected. The primary data for the study was collected from students, teachers, principals, vice principals,supervisors and parents teachers association drawn from the five schools sample. The secondary data was collected from documents.The instruments employed to collect data from the respondents were questionnaire, interview, FGD observation checklist and documents analysis.The collected data was analyzed by using quantitative and qualitative techniques. The quantitative data was analyzed using descriptive statistics involving frequencies and percentages to summarize data and it was presented using frequency distribution tables, pie charts and bar graphs. Meanwhile qualitative data was organized into themes and analyzed using narratives in the form of sentences the respondents‟ views, experiences and information. The findings of the study revealed that, the main factors that affect education quality were: poor motivation of teachers, low attitude of teachers towards teaching, incompetence of school principals, principals paid little attention to academic activities,lack of enough and professionally qualified and trained teachers, lack of adequate school facilities, poor school physical environment, Shortage of learning and teaching materials,lack of stakeholders participation,lack of effective communication, lack of interactive teaching methods, and lack of democratic leadership and classroom management. In line with the above finding and conclusion it was recommended that WEO, ZEO and OEB in collaboration with MOE and NGOs should improve the availability of instructional materials and school facilities in the schools.OEB in collaboration with MOE provide house allowances and design incentive mechanisms for teachers, upgrade teachers and provide in-service training opportunity for further education to teachers, ZEO in collaboration with OEB should assign principals who are qualified and trained in the required field of study en_US
