dc.description.abstract The purpose of this study was to examine Management of Students' Disciplinary problems in Government secondary Schools in Ambo town, Oromia Regional State. To conduct this study mixed methods approaches which are composed of both qualitative and quantitative techniques were used. The sample populations were teachers, school administrators (Principals, v/principals and unit leaders), PTSA and students. Availability sampling and simple random sampling technique were served for the selection of the samples, to identify teachers, students and unit-leaders and principals, as a whole, since they are presumed to have the required amount of information on the management of students' disciplinary problems. Through such sampling techniques, 98 teachers, 23 school administrators, 35 PTSA and 154 students were selected. Data were collected from primary sources through questionnaire, interviews and focus group discussion. The quantitative data was collected by using a questionnaire and was analyzed through descriptive statistics that comprised percentage, mean, standard deviation and t-test by using version 20 SPSS software. The qualitative data was collected through interviews and was analyzed using narrative techniques. . Focus group discussion was thematically analyzed. The results of the study \, common disciplinary problems were cheating examination,, absenteeism and late coming. The study also found that the main causes of disciplinary problem were; student related, teacher related and school related. By discussion with students, teachers, parents and as the schools managing the disciplinary problems in the study area were also discovered. The lack of students awareness on disciplinary problems was the major challenges to be solved by involving students, teachers and parents in decision making as a working solutions to solve the challenges were also the major results. Recently, the management of disciplinary problem was not the problem of one school or one country though the degree varies from country to country and school to school. Hence, it was concluded that the major students disciplinary problems appeared in the study area could be easily solved if the schools, parents, students and schools strictly worked together. en_US
