Assessment Of Materials Management Practice: The Case Of Holeta Poly Technic College, Holeta Town

Abstract

The study discovered material resources management in Holeta Polytechnic College in Holeta town. It was concerned with material resource management functions, challenges faced for its effectiveness and implementation of policies and guidelines. To attain the stated objective of the study, descriptive Analysis was used. This method helps to obtain firsthand information from multiple sources. All Holeta polytechnic college Staffs’ are included as a respondent during data collection due to their direct relation with the issue under study and hence to gain Sufficient information. Three groups of respondents participated in the study. These were trainers, Administration staff and stakeholder. Regarding this study, Trainers each from support staff Holeta Polytechnic College were selected randomly. The data was collected through questionnaire, interviews and observation. Data gathered through questionnaire were quantitatively analyzed Using SPSS. Moreover, the data gathered through Interview, observation and relevant documents were qualitatively analyzed. Having gone through these all the study found out that material management functions were not effectively implemented to facilitate Training process. Stakeholder participation was very low. There was also lack of continuous Supervision in the area of material management. Based on these findings, some recommendation was forwarded. Capacity building of trainees, College staff and College managers through training can help maintain equipment users, maintain a positive attitude towards equipment management, and College management can work more closely with College coaches and staff
