Abstract:
Teff is a key food crop as well as a family source of income for the majority of the rural populationin 
Ethiopia..The study on determinants of teff production small holder farming households was conducted 
in the south west shewa district of Oromia Region Ethiopia. Two kebele,that isBadesakoricha and 
obbikojji, were chosen using sampling approach, followed by the selection of 144 sample respondents 
from each Kebele through Simple random sampling method.According to a multiple linear regressionel
analysis, six factors had a significant influence on Teff output. Household family size, land area, credit 
service availability, and adequate of transportation had a significant negative influence on Teff output;
however two variables had a large positive impactHousehold labor, Age of Household head. Teff 
growing techniques were influenced by these elements, as well as demographic, social, and institutional 
considerations.Teff yields per hectare are poor, indicating that productivities are low. Individual 
households gathered an average of 9 quintals of Teff grain per year in 2021. The households should
uses modern technology such as enhanced production methods, improved seeds, and agricultural 
equipment, as well as financial and labor-saving technologies, to increase the amount of Teff produced.
