Abstract:
The study was to Determinant that Impedes the performance of middle and long distance
running in the case of Ambo, Burayu and Holota athletics clubs. All 86 (M=46, F=40)
trainee athletes attended their training in identified athletics club, specifically from Ambo
14(M=8 and F=6), Burayu 42(M=22, F=20) and Holota 30 (M=16, F=14) coaches (6),
Administration staff athletics club three (3) were considered as sources of data. Descriptive
survey research design was employed through quantitative and qualitative approaches
through data gathering tools. The method of data collection employed were questionnaire
for trainee athletes (closed-open ended), semi structured interview for coaches and
Administration staff, depth document analysis and observation thoroughly applied for
gathering data. The data were analysed by using simple descriptive statistics with help of
SPSS version 25 to interpret percentage, frequency and rank order to summarize the results
of the research objectives. The findings of the study significantly indicated that, there were
unclear training manuals, lack proper nutrition shortage of relevant training field,
inadequate finance, and shortage of training materials that can improve the impaired
trainee athletes in the indicated athletics Clubs. Beside to this the manner of training
program practiced in these athletics clubs were not properly organized and structured.
From the findings and conclusion of the study the researcher recommended that, necessary
work should be done by concerned stake holders on training manuals, facilities, and quality
of coaches for the better services of the athletics club.
