dc.description.abstract This study is carried out to assess the effect of Technical vocational Education and training graduates’ self-employment practice the case of Galan TVET. The type of research is descriptive and the research approach was both quantitative and qualitative. To these end graduates of the last three years, and the college’s management body were employed as primary data sources. Followed by objectives basic research questions were raised. From the total 965 targeted population sampling technique used was purposive for trainers and convenience sampling techniques for self-employed and employed graduates. Analysis of data gathered through interview, questionnaire, and relevant documents resulted in finding. The data collected through questionnaire were carefully tabulated, organized and presented using SPSS package and finally reliability test result showed 0.762 which is accepted according to Cronbanch’s Alpha reliability test. The finding showed that graduates’ of self-employment condition as being more in trouble and less in success. As causes of graduates’ failure to create their own business were enumerated as poor quality of training and low attention for project-based training modality, inadequacy of labor market needs assessment and tracer study, low interest as well as poor attitude of trainees and failure of government and concerned stack holders in paying due attention for TVET development. In order for graduates to be able to create their own business the researcher recommends the college to keep itself updated quality of training and make labor market needs assessment confirmed by tracer study adequately, provides training as per trainees’ interest, encourages project-based training as well as to maintain affirmative relation with industries to genuinely. The concerned responsible bodies and stack holders are advised to make conducive working environments and attentively facilitate condition in which graduates can get start-up capital to start run their own business. The trainees are also recommended to improve their attitudes towards vocational education. en_US
