dc.description.abstract Background: Intra-uterine device is a small T-shaped plastic (polyethylene) and copper device that is put into the womb (uterus) by a doctor or nurse. Intra-uterine contraceptive device utilization in 2019 was 2% among reproductive age married women of Ethiopia. Despite Intra-uterine contraceptive device is safe and highly effective, its uptake is not matched with its benefit. Objective: This study aimed to identify determinants of Intra-uterine contraceptive device utilization in health facilities of Sadan Sodo District, Southwest Shao, Central Oromia, Ethiopia/2022. Methods: A facility-based unmatched case-control study was conducted on a total of 209 study participants. Of these, 42 IUCD users‟ clients were cases and 167 implants, injections, or OCPs users „clients were controls. Data were collected through individual-based face-to-face interviews using close ended questionnaires starting from November 15/2021 to January 15/2022. The collected data were cleared and entered to Epi-Info version [7.2.2.6] and analyzed using SPSS version 20. Multi-variable binary logistic regression was used to identify factors related to IUCD utilization at P-value<0.05. The strength of the association was assessed using an odds ratio with a 95% confidence interval. RESULTS: Family size greater than five (AOR (95%CI) =4.2; 1.85-9.5), source of information being health worker (AOR = 3.7, 95% CI; 1.4–10.2) and availability counseling service (AOR = 14, 95% CI = 2.74–17.3) had a significant association with the use of Intrauterine Contraceptive Device (IUCD). Other determinant found to have significant association was history abortion (AOR = 2.8, 95% CI = 1.26–6). CONCULUSION AND RECOMMENDATION: The study identified family size, source of information, counseling, history abortion as major determinants for use of Intrauterine Contraceptive Device in district. Therefore, to scale up the utilization of Intrauterine Contraceptive Device; counseling on IUCD, countinesly delivering information on IUCD by health worker should be undertaken. en_US
