Abstract:
Ethiopia is the second most populous nation in Africa. Family planning is a viable solution to
control such fast growing population. In Ethiopia, women have, on average, about five children
and surveys show that the unmet need for family planning services is high. This study aimed to
identify factors that affect utilization of family planning service rural women in case of Dendi
District Oromia Regional State in Ethiopia. In this study the data source is Dendi woreda
Health Offices and Health Survey 2020 with a total of 11260 women of age 15-49 years. In this
study by random sampling techniques 202women of reproductive age are considered.
Descriptive statistics and binary logistic regression are used for statistical analysis. The
descriptive result revealed that about 61.5% of the women user of family planning while 38.5 %
did not practice family planning. The logistic regression analysis revealed that age, number of
children, religion, and availability of NGO, contact with health center and knowledge of women
were found to be significant predictors for women’s family planning practice. Hence, I
recommend that the District health office administrators should work to with NGOs in the study
area that are working on improvement and empowerment of rural women’s must be financial
support and appropriate trainings in the study are
