An information system is the overall name for systems that handle, store and distribute
information. This study was intended to evaluate enterprise resources planning
implementation in Ethio-telecom. This research used both descriptive and explanatory
research designs. The data was collected through questionnaires and structured interview
from 160 respondents using census. The collected data was analyzed using mainly SPSS
(Statistical Package for the Social Sciences) version 20. Descriptive statistics and regressions
were employed to analyze data. The study results show that the deployed ERP system is not
properly implemented and practiced on the basis of the selected effectiveness variables. It is
observed that the ERP system implemented across the divisions is not effective. In addition,
lack of appropriate training for all system users and customization were the most serious
problems. Finally, the reporting formats as per of the user-friendly nature of the system has
been identified as a major challenge in relation to the decision-making activity and practice
as good manner. Hence, the company is recommended to re-consider its system utilization,
since there are important features not yet utilized by the company. Moreover, the company
also suggested to revisit the required business requirements through customization and
implement adequate training and development in order to prepare users so that they can
easily work on the system and support each other even if integrators are not there. |
