dc.description.abstract he study was conducted to examine the effect of leadership style on employee job performance: the case of Ambo city administration offices and examined the effect of autocratic leadership style, verified the effect of democratic leadership styles and finally determined the effect of laissez faire leadership style on employees job performance in the work place. Both descriptive and explanatory design was used. The target population was 227and a sample of 210employees was taken for the study using simple random sampling. Data were collected using survey questionnaire the gathered data were analyzed using both descriptive statistics and multiple regressions Model with the help of Statistical Packages for Social Science(SPSS).Indeed quantitative data were analyzed using tables, percentages and presented in the form of mean, standard deviation, Pearson correlation, and ANOVA and regression analysis. On the other hand, the qualitative data gathered from in-depth interview, key informant interview were organized and analyzed thematically. The study result showed that autocratic leadership style, democratic leadership style, and laissez faire leadership style were variables which have positive and statistically significant effect on employees job performance in Ambo town and even if the interview result shows that leadership style adopted by the administrative manager were democratic leadership style, but the questioners results shows autocratic and Laissez faire leadership style were more practiced by the leaders of Ambo city administrations office was implemented with a greater degree. The researcher recommend that ambo city administration leaders and human resource, who can manage that institutions must be practicing democratic leadership style because to increase and encourage the employee’s participations and it crates transparence to discuss among team members, whatever it is the Employees Performance evaluations must be done based on workers evaluation criteria designed by the police and procedures of the institutions, as some employees response and interview result of top management members idea were contradict each other on “practicing the three leadership styles” applying democratic leadership styles must be adapted. en_US
