Abstract:
The purpose of the study was to investigate the management practice of principals on co curricular activities in secondary schools of DaraWoreda North shoa zone. The study
answered the basic questions, to what extent management of DaraWoreda secondary
schools exhibit management practice of principals on co-curricular activities in their
daily managerial activities, how do DaraWoreda secondary schools teachers view the
level of management practice of principals on co-curricular activities and which
dimension of management of co-curricular activities do secondary schools give more
priority. In order to address the objective of study, a descriptive design was employed.
The accessible population of the study was 32 teachers, 6 vice principals and 6
principals. From 36 sample respondents 30 teachers, 3 principals and 3 vice principals
were selected used as a sample using simple random and available sampling techniques
respectively. The data collected from the respondents through questionnaire, interview
and document analysis was analyzed and interpreted using percent. This study found out
that the teachers of DaraWoreda North Shoa Zone were moderately but nearest to highly
practiced on faming the school goal, promoting professional development and providing
incentive for teachers relatively among other management of co-curricular activities
functions. Whereas, by giving training, motivation, supervising, evaluating of instruction
and rising budget were significantly low performed function of management of co curricular activities. Then the researchers concluded that, management practice of
principals on co-curricular activities in secondary schools of DaraWoreda was staled
tried to practice but it is not satisfactory as expected. On top of these findings,
recommendation was forwarded to address the least practiced function of management
practice of principals on co-curricular activities of DaraWoreda.
